ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT POSITION DESCRIPTION

  OVERVIEW:
 Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for developing,
implementing and managing all aspects of the following fundraising programs: major donor
annual giving groups (including Directors Circle, Sheldon's Legacy, and the Annual Fund),
events, and corporate giving.
 The Assistant Director of Development collaborates closely with the Executive Director to
support the capital campaign and annual fundraising goals, develop fundraising strategies and
implement programmatic tactics that result in increased revenue.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Develops, implements and manages all aspects of the museum’s annual fundraising programs
 Membership development and expansion
 Works to support the capital campaign and the capital campaign committee
 Facilitates in monitoring and organizing the capital campaign
 Solicits major gifts for projects and annual support; oversees implementation of donor
recognition efforts for both campaign and annual support
 Edits donor letters, proposals, and acknowledgements
 Works closely with the Executive Director to set development-related goals
 Attends events, and meetings related to the museum’s fundraising efforts.
 Works with volunteers on fundraising events including Downtown Challenge, Mardi Gras and
Marilyn Pendergast Spring Dinner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Marketing, Philanthropy, Business Management, or
related field
 Three to 5 years of demonstrated, successful fundraising experience
 Experience with capital and endowment campaigns as well as strategic planning
 Familiar with technology platforms such as Raiser’s Edge and Bloomerang, Excel and
Microsoft Office Suite
SALARY RANGE: $45,000-$55,000
